Taking Stock of January

Happy New Year 2022! I hope and pray that your year has begun well. I’m grateful to God for granting us the opportunity to experience this year. The past two years haven’t been a smooth sail for the entire world. Who could've thought that we'd be going through a pandemic for more than two years? I believe this is part of God’s Sovereign plan. I don’t know how 2022 will turn out, but I pray that whatever comes our way, whether good or bad, we will continue trusting in God and be obedient to His word. In January, I began from where I left off last year in my Bible reading journey. Last semester Sep-Dec 2020/2021, two out of the five units I took were based on the books of 1 and 2 Peter, Romans, and Galatians. We were required to do a daily reading of these four books. Thus, I decided to incorporate them in my quiet time. This meant I had to put a pause on my normal Bible reading schedule.  At the start of 2021, I had hoped to cover Genesis 1- Isaiah 26. But by the end

4 Reminders About God's Love For You

Image
A wise person once told me, "Don't let people's opinion about you, make you doubt God's love for you. They didn't create you, they didn't die for you and certainly they don't love you as much as God does. Love people  as God does but be wise". What can you make of this statement? Does it resonate with you, and why? (Would love to hear your thoughts). Remember God has, is, and will always show you His love in many ways. God's love for believers and those who don't believe in Him is unconditional. Matthew 5:45 "He causes His sun  to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous." Isn't that God showing love to all human beings whom He created? Does this show that God's love is indiscriminate?  4 Reminders About God's Love For You 1. His love will not allow you to perish if you believe in Him    John 3:16: For God so loved the world that He gave his only Son, that whosoever be

Faith! What is Faith?

Image
Grapple: How have you exercised Faith in your life? Faith /feɪθ/ According to the online dictionary, Faith is complete trust or confidence in someone or something. The second definition says faith is a strong belief in the doctrine of a religion, based on spiritual conviction rather than proof. According to the Bible in Hebrews 11: 1, it defines faith this way, ‘Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see’. Hebrews 11 is the hall of faith . In this chapter, you get to read about amazing men and women who had great, crazy, audacious faith in God. I would like to write more about these great men and women of God. However, for now, allow me to write about Abraham. There is so much that has been said and written about Abraham as a man of God and more importantly as a Father of faith. Today I would like to just highlight a fraction of Abraham’s life and faith. 22 Interesting Facts About Abraham Abraham was a descendant of Shem who was one of No

In The Beginning

Grapple: Ever wonder how old this world is?   How old do you think it is?   Book: Genesis 1 Brief History on the Book of Genesis The book of Genesis also known as the book of the beginnings. It is the first book in the Bible that introduces the readers to the rest of the Bible. This book was written by Moses. What about timings? No one knows the date, month, or year when the heavens and the earth were created by God. However, the happenings recorded in Genesis are estimated to have taken place around these years: Creation-Call of Abraham (2091 B.C)- Israel goes to Egypt (1876 B.C)-Exodus from Egypt (1446 B.C).  Characters in the chapter In Genesis 1 we encounter three active characters;   God the Father: He is seen from the beginning of verse one and all through the chapter. vs.1 Inthe beginning God, vs. 3,6,9,11,14,20,22,24,26, 29... God said... In these verses and many others that I have not noted here, we get to read more about God creating the heavens and the earth through Words.

God's Favorite Method

God's favorite method It was deep in printed in my heart at this point and time I believe this was God telling me what to do, she had to be the first one to celebrate with, after all if it wasn’t for God enabling her to carry this young lady for nine months, then I wouldn’t have probably been here today. God put this strongly in my heart that many are the times that when we celebrate our born day we much less expect birthday wishes and gifts from others but rarely do we give gifts to God or others as a show of thanksgiving not to man but unto God.   It might be a special seed you plant or give an offering of thanksgiving unto God, it may be by visiting with the less privileged just to share God’s love with them or it might be a simple way of saying thank you to your parents for giving you the opportunity to live, whichever the case is at least you’ve celebrated someone else apart from yourself. As for me God just said ‘call her and let her know that you’re thankful

Thanks- Living

January 1, 2017 Thanks-Living Anne Cetas Psalm 23 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life. Psalm 23:6 Wanting to mature in her spiritual life and become more thankful, Sue started what she called a Thanks-Living jar. Each evening she wrote on a small piece of paper one thing she thanked God for and dropped it in the jar. Some days she had many praises; other difficult days she struggled to find one. At the end of the year she emptied her jar and read through all of the notes. She found herself thanking God again for everything He had done. He had given simple things like a beautiful sunset or a cool evening for a walk in the park, and other times He had provided grace to handle a difficult situation or had answered a prayer. Sue’s discovery reminded me of what the psalmist David says he experienced (Ps. 23). God refreshed him with “green pastures” and “quiet waters” (vv. 2–3). He gave him guidance, protection, and comfort (vv. 3–4). David concl

There comes a time in life whereby, you question the presence of God in your life. You go through one challenge after another, one disappointment after the other till you sit yourself down and ask, 'Does God still exist in my situations?' It's kinda funny when you look around and feel like everything is going on great in other people's lives expect your's.  You read the Word, Pray, Fast, Fellowship with others and Serve God with every breath in you but despite all that, nothing seems to work. Your prayers seems to hit the wall, your Faith turns to doubt and you wonder am I still saved, am I still a Christian, am I still His beloved Son or Daughter? Well, even the one the Bible records as "a man after God's own heart" had reached to that point in His life. These questions arose so strongly in his heart, seeing everyone is against him; the kings, his own son and even the people he once led  faithfully, this really was the darkest moment in
